STRESS
SYMPTOMS—Effects on your body, feelings and behavior
Stress symptoms often mimic symptoms of other problems. You may think illness
is to blame for that nagging headache, your frequent forgetfulness or your decreased
productivity at work. But the common denominator may be stress. Indeed, stress
symptoms can affect your body, your thoughts and feelings, and your behavior.
Stress may be affecting your health, and you may not even realize it. Recognize
common stress symptoms — then take steps to manage them.
Trying to manage the symptoms is often the most common response
to stress, but this is not complete stress management. Hypnosis
and hypnotherapy deals with the subconscious reasons for why
you are stressed and helps you change them. Not only can hypnosis
help you deal with stress and be more relaxed then and there,
it can help you develop new coping mechanisms and keep you from
getting as stressed in the future.
The first step in managing your stress is to realize it when
you are feeling stressed. For many people stress is such a regular
part of life that they don't even realize it. Feeling pain or
tension, or any of the other symptoms of stress becomes something
they don't even question, because it is so common.
The second step in managing stress is doing something about your
stress. Its often not an option to avoid the situations that
cause you stress, but you can choose to change how you approach
and react to them.
A hypnotherapist can assist you to develop a stress management
solution on how you react to certain situations and help you
deal with stress in a healthier way. Over time, hypnosis will
re-program your mind and teach it new and healthier responses.
These new ways to respond to a situation will be as natural to
you as your old ones were, but they will be much better for your
health.
